Abstract

The animation industry is often hailed as a lucrative venture, yet the decline of Chinese animation in the mid to late 1980s prompts us to reevaluate its vitality. This paper examines the perplexities and prospects of Chinese animation: (1) How can animation stars revive and articulate inclusivity while respecting original creative principles? (2) How can animation policies address root causes and assess their impacts positively and negatively? (3) How can the chaotic animation market be rationalized? It suggests that the revival of Chinese animation should commence with comics to cultivate readers and gradually reclaim the market. Emphasizing the need for systematic development strategies, understanding the temporal characteristics of animation products, and expanding influence beyond national borders, it anticipates China’s shining presence at the fourth global summit of the animation industry.
